Themes--duality
In each and every person, there is a good side as well as an evil side. God has given us the freedom to choose between good and evil. Therefore, man has decide carefully as to what type of life he wishes to lead. If we let the evil part of us control our lives, we would like dr. jekyll, face destruction.
-- Friendship and loyalty
Mr. Utterson proved himself to be a caring and loyal friend. He looked for wys to free Dr. Jekyll from Hyde, whom he thought was blackmailing(恐吓) the doctor. Both Dr. Lanyon and Dr, Jekyll consider him their own friend.
--Nature
God has made us what we are. Do not try to meddle with mature.
--Hypocrisy
In a victorian society, people were hypocritical, that is, they pretended to have qualities, beliefs and feelings that they actually did not have. Outwardly, they looked respectable(like Dr. Jekyll), but immoal on the inside( like Mr. Hyde) and had wicked desires.
